Paid Family and Medical Leave of 2005 (View

Congressman Pete Stark is introducing The Paid
Family and Medical Leave Act of 2005 which builds on the highly
successful Family and Medical Insurance Act by providing up to 12 weeks
of paid benefits to workers who take time off under the Family and Medical
Insurance Act. Beginning in 2008, workers will receive this benefit
from a new Healthy Families Trust Fund, financed through
a .4% payroll contribution from employers.

On June 15, 2004 Senator Kennedy and Congresswoman
DeLauro introduced a bill that would give all employees 7 paid sick
days a year (so they would have time to care for themselves or a child
when sick).

introduced legislation to help American working families by expanding
child care, helping employers provide benefits for all their employees,
improving the Family Medical Leave Act and expanding assistance for
school children to ensure that they are ready and prepared to learn.
